Maja Jasińska on the art of bringing classical music
to life for wider audiences.
Maja Jasińska has performed for some of classical music's largest audiences as a flutist with
André Rieu's Johann Strauss Orchestra.
André Rieu and his orchestra have helped bring classical music into the lives of millions through concerts
where talent, grandeur, and tradition meet.
Artist Playbook caught up with Jasińska to explore insights from her colorful journey on stage.
Your career moves freely between classical, jazz, and pop.
How have those worlds shaped the way you play?
MJ: "Opening myself to other genres has given me greater freedom.
"Classical music has always been my foundation, as it is where I began.
"Ultimately, all these musical worlds are connected by the same beauty and joy of performing, sharing, and
listening."
Does your work at Conservatorium Maastricht shape the way you think about musicality?
MJ: "Mentoring has reinforced my belief that a strong technical foundation and finding your own voice are
equally important.
"Technique gives you freedom, but it is your own voice that allows the music to become yours truly."
You've built a substantial community of flute players.
What has that taught you about connecting with audiences today?
MJ: "Showing who you are beyond the performance matters.
"Social media has become an important way for artists to connect with people today.
"Showing who you are beyond the performance helps audiences understand your music, your expression,
and the person behind it."
What has touring the world with André Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra taught you about
keeping classical music vibrant?
MJ: "Tradition remains alive when emotions come first."
"Classical music does not have to become something else to reach new audiences. It simply has to be
communicated in a way that makes people feel that it belongs to them too."
