East European Tour

May 2014

Translators in the Johann Strauss Orchestra.

For the East European Tour André did not need to search far to find translators! He found them in his own orchestra!

Agnes Fizzano-Walter (Agnieszka) is Polish and she translated André’s text for him into Polish. (This great photo below was taken by Martine Calvinhac from France).

Martine Wijers has a Czech mother, and she translated André’s text into the Czech language. In one of the the YouTube videos below you can hear Agnes speak in her native tongue in the concerts in Lodz and Gdansk in Poland.

In Hungary Bela Mavrak (from Hungarian origin), one of the tenors, was the translator.

He made it a show of his own in Budapest.

In Lithuania Giedre Mundinaite translated. She hails from Lithuania.

We also have a nice video clip from Tallinn, Estonia. In this concert the young Estonian singer Ott Lepland translated André’s text and performed his biggest hit together with the orchestra. In the audience was the Estonian fan Imbi Raid. Frank Steijns made a picture of her in the audience and she made it to André’s website!

The East European Tour ended in Helsinki, Finland’s capital city. Imbi was also there.

Anna Reker, who hails from Ukraine, sang a Ukrainian song, together with the Russian Saint Petersburg Trio.

Our Polish fan friend Lidia wrote on the André Rieu fans Harmony Parlor on Facebook the translation of Agnes’ text:

This is what Agnes says before she translates Andre's words;...... "Good evening ladies and gentlemen. My name is Agnieszka Walter. I'm from Kowary, Jelenia Góra. I"ve been playing the violin in the orchestra for about ten years, and that's why I'm very, very glad, that finally we are playing on Polish stages!! I wish you a great time tonight, with André and of course with the Johann Strauss Orchestra. "

Thank you Michal and Lidia!!!
