L1 Radio interview by phone. September 22, 2016
L1 radio interview by phone. Translated by Ineke, edited by John. André from Buenos Aires (Argentina), on September 22, 2016. Interviewers: Ruud and Tim. André Rieu with Ruud and Tim: "Then I ordered 450 boxes of shampoo". Ruud and Tim from Limburg radio L1, called André Rieu, and he revealed his secret about his hair. The King of Waltz, worldwide the best selling Dutch artist ever, is currently touring Argentina.  Presenters Ruud Kleinen and Tim op het Broek spoke to him by phone. They wanted to know if Rieu had time for a day to the beach. But that appears definitely not to be on the agenda. He says: "I hate the beach, sand and wind. I like playing music better". Both radio presenters have a great first: André Rieu revealed the secret behind his profuse hairdo. "You need to shampoo daily with a good shampoo", Rieu laughs. He adds that he has been using the same shampoo for years. "I was once in a hotel in the German city of Trier and there was a shampoo dispenser on the wall.  And the shampoo was great! So I ordered 450 boxes of this shampoo. Really true, come and take a look at my house. I am 66 and I intend to live until 120, so until I die I still need 250 boxes.” -o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o The live radio interview by phone: Ruud and Tim call André. Monique answers the phone. One of the interviewers tells her that he has an appointment with Mr. Rieu, and Monique connects to André…. "Just a moment"! In the meantime there is beautiful music on the phone. The two presenters speak with each other: This is better than elevator music. What's the name of the piece? I recognize it, it is very famous. If he asks us, we should give the right answer! I don't remember the name, oh Mr. Rieu, sorry! (Note IC: it was "Air" by J.S.Bach). AR: Hello Dennis and Tim. No, this is Ruud and Tim, hello Mr. Rieu. Dennis is on holiday. We notice that you    are a regular listener to L1. We just heard your pause music. Was that you? Yes, that was me. We did not know the name of the music piece. (Tim starts to hum the melody, but stops: "I cannot sing"). Do you have any idea? AR: Maybe Ruud can sing better? Ruud: "No, I cannot do that". Where are you at this moment? I hear a slight delay in the connection. AR: I am in Argentina, there is no delay. What are you doing there? AR: What do you think? I am performing with my orchestra. Do you ever take a day off, Mr. Rieu? Never a day to relax on the beach? Do you   have to work hard every day? AR:  Beach? That is nothing for me. I hate the beach, sand and wind. I prefer to play. What about the concert on September 30th, at Our Dear Lady’s (OLV) Square? Was that suddenly added to your schedule? Did it fit your agenda, how did it   come about? AR: Yes, the Dutch broadcasting company MAX is traveling the Netherlands with   their daily program "Time for MAX". During the last broadcast of September they   will be in Maastricht and they asked me to give a closing concert on the Vrijthof.   Since I already performed 7 concerts on the Vrijthof and knowing what has to be   done for that, I suggested to play on the OLV square, to make it cozier and more   intimate. You are on the TV program (from 5 - 6 PM). Could the 600 lucky ones who   managed to get seats expect more when the MAX cameras are gone? AR: Oh, I have to say something about that. The 600 lucky ones only reserved a   seat. I think they'll also have something to eat (note IC: only the Derlon   arrangements). Around the seats are the public streets and anyone can join in   there. It's not like: "Oh, the 600 seats are fully booked, so I cannot come any more. Everyone can come and join”. I have a last question for you, which has to do with myself. To be honest: I suffer   from hair loss. I really don't know what to do. When I see your hair, it is really   crazy, it is still in shape. How do you manage to keep it like that? AR: To wash it every day with a good shampoo. Which shampoo do you recommend? AR: “I once stayed at a hotel in Trier (Germany) and there was a shampoo   dispenser on the wall, with a great shampoo! I then ordered 450 boxes of this   shampoo. Really true, come and look at my house. I am 66 and I intend to turn   120, so, until I die I still need 250 boxes." Thank you very much! Enjoy your stay in Argentina, and we look forward to the   mini concert on September 30. AR: Me too. Bye Mr. Rieu. Hoi, hoi. Presenters after the interview: Do you think it really was Mr. Rieu? At some point I thought it was Jo Cortenraedt. It could be. But I also thought: Prince Bernhard came to life….. -o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o--o-o-o-o-o-o--o-o-o-o-o-o-
